P-CED was introduced to the UK as a working model in 2004 with the concept of a trading business investing at least 50% of profit in a social objective taken up in the eligibility criteria for the Social Enterprise Mark in 2010. It's time to see ourselves as others see us and not as we imagine ourselves, strutting about on the world stage. It's Europe that should be giving a lead, in cooperation with the US, and Britain should be looking to support and strengthen Europe rather than constantly trying to put on a solo act that we can't afford, can't sustain, and can't help looking ridiculous in the process.
